The expansion joint is composed of two working corrugated pipes connected by a working corrugated pipe or an intermediate pipe, a balancing corrugated pipe, and structural components such as a working tension rod. The expansion joint is mainly used to absorb axial and lateral combined displacement and balance the pressure thrust of corrugated pipes. Performance characteristics of pipe pressure balanced corrugated expansion joint: It consists of two sets of working waves, a balanced wave with an area twice that of the working wave, and two sets of force transmission rods. The expansion joint bears internal pressure thrust through load-bearing components (large rods or tongue tubes). This compensator is mainly used to compensate for axial displacement of the pipe system. If an additional set of working waves is added, it can absorb a small amount of lateral displacement but cannot absorb angular displacement. This compensator is generally used for high-pressure straight pipelines, and its pressure thrust is borne by the structural components of the corrugated pipe itself. The pipeline fixed support only considers the elastic force of the corrugated pipe and the frictional resistance of the pipeline.
Application scope of straight pipe pressure balanced corrugated expansion joint: It is mainly used in high level vertical pipelines or large diameter pipelines where large thrust fixed supports are not suitable. The installation method of a typical straight pipe pressure balanced corrugated expansion joint is shown in the figure. The two devices are sensitive to load requirements, and the pressure and displacement of the flange attachment part are very small. When the straight pipe pressure balanced corrugated expansion joint absorbs all axial displacements, both devices can be extended due to temperature effects. If the diameter of the pipeline or expansion joint between devices is greater than 4 times the diameter of the pipe, a straight pipe pressure balanced corrugated expansion joint should be used.
